K1VR Spitfire Installation
Notes:
The Spitfire array as adapted to K1VR’s 100-foot tower is shown. To enhance
visibility, the wire parasitic elements have been colored over in red. The wire
elements are actually suspended from the 90-foot point because of the 40-meter
beam above. The loading effect of the various beams results in the tower by itself
resonating under 1.5 MHz, but doesn’t preclude the array from working FB! The
tower is fed via a gamma shunt feed system which taps the tower around the 80
foot point. The gamma “rod’ is barely visible in this photo on the right side of
